The six years of His Excellency, Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR (Khadimul Islam) steering up affairs of the state has been described as a magnificent blessing to the people.

The Director General Kano State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Nasiru Alhassan Kabo, made the assertion in a press statement issued from the Public Relations Unit of the Board in commemoration of the six years in office of Governor Ganduje.

This is contained in a statemen by Ibrahim Abdullahi Public Relations Officer Hospitals Management Board.

The Director General says the sterling leadership style of Khadimul Islam in these sequential years proves that the Governor is versatile, focused and visionary personality that is equal to the task entrusted him with.

Dr. Kabo recalls that His Excellency clinched the leadership of the state when the country is faced with serious challenges, economically and socially, and yet, he is able to execute very touchable developmental projects unprecedented in the history of the state.

He says there has not been a time Kano witnesses meaningful transformations than the time of Khadimul Islam, buttressing that “There has not been any sphere of life of the people that has not been touched by our Governor, ranging from infrastructural provision, health, youth/women empowerment, urban/rural development, education, security to mention but few. In fact, Kano state and its populace are the cardinal priority of His Excellency.”

He notes that prompt payment of workers’ salary despite shortfall in revenues hitting the nation couldn’t go unnoticed, adding that “There is no single month in which Governor Ganduje fails to pay workers’ salary amounting billions of Naira in a time most states in the federation couldn’t have done such. This is quite commendable and cherishing.”

On health sector, Dr. Kabo states that since 1963 when the state was named Kano, there has not been any Governor that did what Khadimul Islam has done and being doing in promoting the healthcare system of the state.

Dr. Kabo noted with satisfaction that since coming on board, the health friendly Governor has ensured that the two abandoned mega hospitals project by the successive administrations in Giginyu and Zoo Road were completed and put in use for the benefit of people, not only of the state, but also to the entire county, a feat that resulted into a successful conduct of brain surgery first of its kind in the history of the state.

He enthusiastically states that, “17% of state’s budgetary allocation has been earmarked to health in 2020. This surpasses the Abuja Declaration of 15% allocation to health by all states of the federation, a feat only achieved by Kano state government under His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.”

The Director General says that under Governor Ganduje five additional health agencies have been established namely: Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, Kano State Health Trust Fund, Private Health Institutions Management Board, Kano State Agency for the Control of Aids and Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency, all in a bid of His Excellency to ease access to care by Kano populace.

“All these are in addition to sustaining free intervention programmes such as Free Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Accident and Emergency, Cleaning and Cleansing, etc where drugs and consumables worth millions of Naira are being purchased and supplied to health facilities on monthly basis for onward distribution free to deserving people,” he avers.

Dr. Kabo eulogizes the reactive and proactive approaches been taken by Khadimul Islam in containing both the first and second waves of Covid-19 pandemic in the state, saying that “If not Kano, being the most populous state in the country, is blessed with a visionary leader like Dr. Ganduje, who has zeal and political will to serve his people to the best of his abilities, the issue would have been worsen than any state in the country.”

“I, on behalf of my family and the entire staff of the Hospitals Management Board, wish to extend my hearty felicitations to our proudly leader, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family, members of the State Executive Council, APC leadership in the state and in Kabo local government on the occasion of his six years in office. May the remaining two years be of great success and beneficial to Kano state,” the Director General concludes.
