The chairman of Kano state Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) Professor Garba Ibrahim Sheka has restated the commission’s commitment of ensuring the settlement of allowances of ad-hoc staff who participated in the last local governments elections.
This is contained in a statement by Dahiru Lawan Kofar Wambai,
Chief Public Relations officer of the commission.
The statement says, Professor Garba Sheka was commenting when he went round to monitor the last lap of payments to ad-hoc staff from 33 local governments of the state.
The chairman doffed hat to the ad-hoc staff for their patience, persverance and understanding despite rendering their services for so many weeks without being paid.
” The election money is just like a budget, each segment has to be approved before money is released.so the approval is coming in phases, your patience is highly appreciated, so many expenditures had been affected by global economic hardship” stressed Sheka.
The chairman expressed optimism that the state government under the amiable leadership of His Excellency Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje will settle the remaining money in earnest to make the payment hundred percent complete.
He used the opportunity to appreciate the state Governor and other stakeholders particularly the state commissioner for local government, Alh Murtala Sule Garo, and his counterpart ofInformation, Malam Muhammad Garba and all those who partake in making the activities of the commission very smooth.
Commenting on the development, the commission Administrative secretary, Barrister, Dr Wada Bashir Isyaku on behalf of commissioners and directors expressed gladness for what the state government has done saying it helps to maintain the commission’s reputation and clear multiple complains and protests of non payment of allowances of the ad-hoc staff.
