The All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that it has no option than to sack Abdulmajid Danbilki Kwamanda due to his utterances against President Muhammadu Buhari and the Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The Zaitawa ward chapter of APC, Municipal Local Government area, also said it has stripped Kwamanda from membership of the committee of Chieftains of the party at the ward.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary at Zaitawa ward, Auwal Kaboyi on Tuesday said the leadership of the party from the state, local government and ward level had approved the sacking of Kwamanda.
Giving reasons for sacking Kwamanda, who is known as the staunch supporter of Buhari, the party said it took the decision in order to save itsself from falling into crises, especially during the upcoming elections in 2023.
According to the letter, written in Hausa language, the APC deemed it fit to dismiss Kwamanda because he has prematurely started campaigning for a governorship aspirant even before the party give permission for that.
The letter also said that Kwamanda was found culpable of anti-party activities and unwholesome utterances against the person of Buhari and Ganduje.
APC therefore warned its members at Zaitawa to desist form political association with the embattled Kwamanda.
However, in a press conference in Kano on Tuesday, Kwamanda described his alleged suspension as null and void, arguing that due process was not followed to make the decision.
“On the issue of my suspension from the party, the right procedures were not taken. Investigation committee was not set up and no warning was given. I was just declared suspended.
“This decision will certainly affect the APC in the state and the leaders will surely regret the action even as the action was taken to scare some members of the party because of their choice of Sen Barau Jibril as the next Kano state Governor.
“They have no choice but to suspend me because i am not a ‘political prostitute’, i am policy minded. Therefore, my suspension is null and void.
“We shall remain in APC and have formed a faction called ‘APC Akida’ that will be based on principles and respect the peoples choice, as against the other faction that is made up of hungry politicians. We will succeed because we are with the people and the people are with us.
“We are products of the past politics that is based on principles and they know that we will never support lack of fairness. The party must subject itself to the will of the people or else it will loose in the future even if we will be accused of anti party, ” Kwamanda stated.
