The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has pledged to provide uninterrupted power supply to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), Kano.
The Managing Director of the Distribution Company, Dr Jamilu Gwamna, made the pledge when the Chief Medical Director of AKTH, Prof. Abdurrahman Sheshe, paid him a courtesy visit on Tuesday.
Gwamna said that as part of efforts at addressing the challenges of the hospital in the area of electricity, AKTH would be included in the priority list of the Company.
The KEDCO boss then requested for the names of AKTH technical staff in charge of electricity in the hospital.
According to Gwamna, the technical staff will receive training from the company on how to discharge their duties efficiently.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Director of AKTH, Prof. Sheshe, had expressed concern over the huge amount being spent by the hospital on electricity.
He said that sometimes, the hospital spent over N20 million in a month on purchase of diesel for the running of the 1500 KVA generator that provided the whole hospital with power.
Sheshe commended the management of KEDCO for coming to the aid of the hospital and its patients during difficult times.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Chief Medical Director of the hospital visited KEDCO in search of solution to the challenges of power supply to the hospital.. (NAN)
