The Speaker Kano State of House Assembly, Rt Hon.Hamisu Ibrahim Chindari said that the house will partner with Connected Development on tackling gender based violence,child abuse act in the State.
The speaker made this known during a courtesy visit by a coalition of advocators on Galvanising mass action against Gender based violence in Kano ,GMAAK project, organized by Connected Development, with support from Canadian High commission.
Speaker Chidari added; Kano state assembly has already passed the second reading of the child protection act bill and has forwarded it to the committee on women affair, which he hope within some time the positive news will be heard.
However, the house of Assembly is aware of the on going activities been done by CODE,the importance is not only for kano state but to the state at large, I assure that the house will support and work hand in hand in tackling any sexual gender based Violence in the State.
The Executive Director of Bridge Connect and the team head of GMAAK project, Alh Sani Muhammad said, the child protection bill has been there for years without any stand but under the leadership of Hon. Chidari the child protection bill has been passed within a couple of months, this is an immense contribution to Kano state in the eyes of the Nation ,and we are still advocating on violence against persons person prohibition Act (VAPP) and other offenses to be implemented.
