Kano based Lawyer, Barrister Sulaiman Abdurraheem in partnership with other public spirited individuals have floated an initiative to uplift vulnerable widows and orphans among Ebiras residents in Kano.
The NGO named Ebira Peoples Initiative for Vulnerable widows and orphans was unveiled yesterday as part of conscious efforts to engage member of the community on fundraiser in collaboration with the Group to collectively help the vulnerable group in the community.
Sequel to the development, the Initiative has floated a WhatsApp platform for like minds to facilitate monthly taxation of a thousand naira to support the philanthropic efforts.
Hundreds of guests at the historic launch that held at Ebira House located at Naibawa Quarters in the municipal offered to be enrolled on the platform for the course.
In a speech at the ceremony, Barrister Sulaiman Abdurraheem said it was a sad commentary that the system don’t have a social scheme to cater for these vulnerable group in our society.
Barrister Sulaiman stated that the death of a breadwinner usually visits untold hardships on the windows and orphans, adding their pitiable conditions should reweaken societal responsibility to them.
He revealed that the Group is using Kano as a pilot scheme , pointing out that similar gesture would be extended to Ebiraland in the nearest future.
Barrister Sulaiman explained that “our goal is to advocate, contributes, solicit and give support to Orphans and widows in our midst through educational programs, empowerment and social engagement activities”.
