Fulani Herders: Kano Government Solicits Traditional Rulers’ Support On Census

Kano State Government solicits the supports of traditional rulers for smooth conduct of the ongoing census of Fulani herders and household counts across the state.

This was contained in a statement issued to PRIME TIME NEWS on Thursday and signed by Saude Mukhtar Adnan, the Public Relations Officer at Kano Bureau of Statistics.

The Director-General, Kano State Bureau of Statistics, Alhaji Baballe Ammani made the plea when he called on the Emirs of Rano Ambassador Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa and that of Gaya Alh (Dr.) Ibrahim Abdulkadir to inform their Royal Highnesses on the gigantic project introduce by the government of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for the counting of Fulani herders in Kano to generate information which will lead to the planning of all development activities for the Fulani people to enjoy.

Alhaji Baballe Ammani said the government of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje intended to provide five forests for the settlement of Fulani at various Local governments, which could not be achieved without timely and realistic information that will guide the planning and making Fulani live very happily and also to empower their youths.

Alhaji Ammani said Kano state is the initiator of the project for another state to copy and it will solve the crises between farmers and Fulani herdsmen across the state.

In their separate remarks, the Emirs of Rano and Gaya respectively promise to support the project due to the importance attached to it and charges their subordinates to support the project.

Earlier, in his remarks, the Chairman coalition of Fulani Association Dr Kamal charges the Fulani people to support the project due to the numerous importance attached to it.
