Kano LG Elections: CSOs, KANSIEC, PCAC Meet, Train Election Observers in Kano


As the local government councils elections draw near in Kano State, the state’s independent electoral commission KANSIEC said it has already distributed all non sensitive election materials to the 44 local government areas.

Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Professor Garba Sheka made this known during a one-day training for election observers held in the metropolis.

Professor Sheka who says there are 12 political parties that will participate in the local government elections scheduled to hold on 16th January, 2021, says all arrangements for the election have been put in place.

Speaking with Viewer TV shortly after the training, Convener of the event, Comrade Ibrahim Wayya expressed optimism that the election observers, all from civil society organisations will exhibit good conduct and professionalism during the electioneering process.

Wayya says Civil Society Organizations will not relent in reporting any election misconduct at the polling units to relevant authorities for proper actions.

The Chairman Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, told newsmen that his Commission will not fold hands to watch corrupt politicians in the state marring the elections.

According to him, politicians caught with corrupt practices during the election period will face the wrath of the Anti-Corruption Commission.
