NGO engages female youths into skill acquisition programmes in Zamfara

A Non Governmental Organization (SUNARS Global Concept) has engaged multitude number of female youths into skill acquisition programmes in efforts to help fight against total reliance on governments’ provisions in Zamfara State.

In an interview with PRIME TIME NEWS during display ceremony of locally-made products, the MD/CEO of the organization, Hauwa’u Barau Suleiman, said the aim behind engaging youths into various skill acquisition programmes was to complement the governments’ efforts in providing job opportunities.

Miss Suleiman said, the organization has so far trained 500 female youths in different trades comprising shoe and handbags, tailoring, home economics and many other related trades that would assist women to pay their needed contribution for men who take the larger percentage of managing homes.

She also disclosed that, the organization, after series contacts with economic experts, has mapped out plans to engage more youths into the programme, adding that, “We have decided to train 1000 women on Soap and Cream making, other related items marked as daily needs in homes as well.

“We also captured another set of 50 women in our plan lists who will be trained on Makeups, all was aimed at complementing the existing efforts by both the governments and other donor agencies in fights to ensure that societies are safe in terms of security challenges”, Hauwa’u has stated.

She further informed that, plans were underway to commence the training of 200 other female youths derived from the 14 local government areas of Zamfara State in various number of lucrative trades which include leather works and Computer Operations and Services.
