Kano – Police in Kano say, they have succeeded in arresting one Gambo Yakubu, a 30 years old indigene of Brigade Quarters who paraded himself present himself as former captain of Super Eagles, Ahmad Musa.
Gambo Yakubu was a former worker at Ahmad Musa’s Sport Centre in Kano.
In a statement issued to PRIME TIME NEWS on Tuesday and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Kano Police Commad, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the story.
DSP Kiyawa says, Ahmad Musa informed Kano Police when he visited the Commissioner of Police Habu A. Sani, in the Command.
He commended the efforts of CP Habu Sani for making Kano State Safe and promised to give all necessary support for Community Policing.
The police had since
arrested the suspect and charged him for impersonation, defamation of character and fraud in Kano, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa added.
According to him, the incident happened on 25 December following a complaint received by the force from one Musa Muhammad of Hotoro Quarters Kano.
The complainer narrated how the suspect forged documents bearing the name Ahmad Musa to defraud innocent members of the public.
“On receipt of this complaint, the Commissioner of Police Kano State Command CP Habu A. Sani, psc raised and directed a Team of detectives led by CSP Abdulkarim Abdullahi to arrest the culprit.” He said.
The suspect has since confessed to have defrauded more than fifteen (15) innocent citizens by collecting money from them pretending to be Ahmad Musa, selling forms at Five Thousand Naira (N5000) each to youths who want to play football abroad.
“He collected over Seven Hundred Thousand Naira (N700,000:00) and spent the money in Hotels on his girlfriends in Sabon Gari area of Kano.”
In another development, the police had on 26 December arrested some suspected hoodlums who were reported to have invaded Madunkuri Settlement in Gomo Village, Sumaila LGA Kano State and killed one Alhaji Kabiru Ya’u and his daughter, Harira Kabiru.
Their arrest according to DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, followed the directives of the Commissioner of Police to the team of Operation Puff Adder led by DSP Shehu Dahiru to arrest the culprits.
“The team immediately swung in to action, followed up, and on the 19/12/2020, 115 days after the incident, arrested; (1) Adamu Musa ‘m’ 50 years (2) Sule Mallam ‘m’ 30 years old & (3) Isyaku Sule ‘m’ 27 years, a Father, Son and Grandson respectively.”
He says, the suspects will be charged to court after completion of investigation.
