Gombe state chapter of the Association of Radiographers of Nigeria was held a first Annual conference and scientific workshop of the association after 51 years of its existence.
The President of the Association Dr Dlama Zira Joseph, stated this in Gombe while briefing our correspondent shortly after he declared open a 52nd Annual conference and scientific workshop organized by the Association to deliberate on critical issues concerning the Association.
Dr Dlama Zira, said Gombe state government has done wonderfully well for giving priority no the Health sector, through construction of numerous primary health care centers and upgraded to the standard of the Gombe state specialist Hospital.
According to the president this year 2020 has been a challenging year with so many complexities and perplexities most especially the Covid 19 pandemic which interrupted a lot of their itineraries in the year under review.
He further said that this conference is historic because it is the first annual conference and scientific workshop of the association in Gombe state the North eastern part of Nigeria for the past 51 years.
He used the opportunity to commend the governor of the state Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his laudable achievement in the area of health care most especially the health structure, uplifting the state specialist hospital with state of art equipments, the 114 primary health care project, establishment of Gombe state insurance scheme and restructuring the health management board.
Dr. Zira called on government to extend the acquisition and installation of Radiography equipments in the rural setting for prompt diagnosis of trauma and various disease conditions. Saying this should be supported with training and re-training of radiographers to provide the needed service for the progress and advancement of our health system.
He appealed for the governor to assist the association with the 18 seater Bus to enable them effectively deliver radiography service in rural areas.
