Troops killed 100 bandits in North West

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Sahel Sanity have succeeded in killing 100 notorious bandits and recovered over 3,000 rustled cows making it possible to facilitated return of normalcy including farming activities across the zone.

This was disclosed in a press briefing at Special Super Camp 4 Faskari, Katsina State by the Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko, saying, the deployed men of the Nigerian Army have also succeeded in destroying 81 bandits’ camps in Kaduna, Kebbi, Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara States.

According to General Onyeuko, the attestation for the total restoration of peace and tranquility, the development which paved way for the return of agricultural, social and economic activities across the zone, was collectively made by the Governors and traditional rulers from the affected states, Chairmen of the National Assemblies on Army as well.

He assured that, with tremendous successes achieved so far by men of the Nigerian Army under operation Sahel Sanity across the zone, hitch free movements for legitimate businesses by the teeming law abiding citizens could be carried as follow up operations against all forms of criminality were still in force.

The acting Director has however said, so far, in all the operations conducted, 100 armed bandits were neutralized, a total of 3,984 cows, 1,627 sheep/rams and 3 Camels recovered, 148 suspected bandits and 315 illegal armed miners were arrested.

Furthermore, he explained that, large cache of arms and ammunition were recovered which include 43 AK47 Riffles, 1 GPMG and 100 Dane guns, 3,261 rounds of 7.62mm (special) and 151 live cartridges of ammunition.

“In all the search and rescue operations carried out, 107 kidnapped victims were rescued, 20 bandits informants and collaborators, 6 arms suppliers, 13 rustled cattle marketers and 32 bandits logistics suppliers were arrested.

“Also, a total of 81 bandit’s camps including the notorious Dangote Triangle and their logistics bases were destroyed by troops of Operation SAHEL SANITY. Relatedly 74 bandits attacks and 54 kidnap incidents were foiled by the troops”, General Onyeuko has added.
