Barrister Abubakar Garba on Wednesday emerged as the Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association, (NBA) Dutse branch, Jigawa State.
The Chairman, who was sworn in on Wednesday. along with his vice Chairperson Hajiya Aisha Suleiman Jahun, commended the Executives of the association for the peaceful and successful transition between the outgoing Chairman Mr Bashir Usaini.
In his acceptance speech, the newly-elected Chairman promised to join the fight against rape and other sexual related offences.
He also pledged to take the association to a greater heights through human and capital development, promoting mandatory continual legal education and promoting the rule of law.
Garba also applauded the branch’s administration for the success recorded during his tenure, saying “Surely you have fostered support, unity and mentorship with the members of this great association.”
Barrister Garba called on members to shun any activity that is not recognized by the law and constitution of the respected association.
He added that the newly-elected executive members paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Honourable Commissioner of Justice, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, who pledged his untimely support in the course of discharging their duty.
“With the emergence of IT world , we hope our members will be incorporated in the next Virtual Training for legal practitioners, which the Ministry has already begun,” the Commissioner was quoted as saying in the statement.
While congratulating the new Executive members, assured them of his support and urged them to make sure that the association is able to meet up with it vision and mission.
The Attorney General announced that more virtual trainings on legal matters are on the way, as the Ministry is collaborating with IT experts from UK and US to train all legal practitioners in the state on IT, and virtual legal proceedings.
He assured that “In a shortest period of time jigawa state Justice sector will be virtually managed.
