Late Gen Murtala Muhammad Foundation distributes palliatives to 280 orphans, needy in Kano

The late Gen Murtala Muhammad Foundation (MMF), under the leadership of his first daughter Aisha Ramat Oyebode has distributed food items to 280 orphans and other needy across seven local government areas that make up the Kano metropolis. 

Delivering the items on Tuesday which made up of rice, spaghetti and noodles, the Kano state coordinator of the (MMF), Jamilu Sule Aminu called on the public to continue to abide by the protection protocols of the COVID-19 that include washing of hands, use of sanitizers, facemasks and adopting social distancing.

The local governments from which 40 beneficiaries each were drawn include Gwale, Tarauni, Kano Municipal and Fagge. Others are Kumbotso, Dala and Nasarawa.

“The Murtala Ramat Muhammad Foundation under the leadership of Aisha Murtala Oyebode is reaching out to orphans and other needy identified from the seven local government areas of the Kano metropolis.

“280 families are going to benefit from rice spaghetti and noodles to cushion the attendant difficulties in the lockdown order imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state” he stated.

Receiving the the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Tafidan Kano and also Hakimin Fagge Alhaji Muhammad Ado Bayero thanked the foundation for the gesture and called on the public to continue to be law abiding.

The Murtala Muhammed Foundation, (MMF) has for almost 20 years intervened in humanitarian response and disaster relief and management. As a not-for-profit organization, the foundation is committed to improving the living conditions of Africans by contributing to the reduction of poverty, elimination of conflict, and promotion of self-reliance and development.
