Aisha Buhari Handover COVID-19 Isolation Center in Nasarawa State


First Lady, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has expressed appreciation to the nation’s health workers for their tireless contribution towards controlling the COVID-19 pandemic.

She was speaking during the handover of a health facility, which she constructed a part of it which included the office block and additional restrooms.

She also upgraded and renovated the Maraba Guruku Medical Center in Nasarawa state on Monday, 1st June 2020.

Handing over the facility on behalf of the First Lady was done by Dr. Hajo Sani, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Women Affairs and Administration.

Dr. Sani spoke of the First Lady’s commitment to ending the pandemic which manifested in her distribution of hospital equipment including beds, mattresses and beddings as well as personal protective equipment for officials all across the country.

She had also distributed palliatives to people in the different states to reduce the economic impact of the movement restriction.

“the renovated facility being handed over today is to be converted to a COVID-19 Isolation center” and called on the hospital management to ensure its proper utilization and maintenance.

Mrs. Buhari also presented medicines to the hospital for distribution to those who cannot afford them and food supplies including bags of rice and sugar to the health workers in the hospital,

Receiving the upgraded facility and the other items, the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa state, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, expressed the appreciation of the people and government of Nasarawa state for the humanitarian gesture of the first lady, saying that posterity is noting her contributions.

He said the concern shown by the First Lady has encouraged others to do the same all over the country and this is manifesting in the apparent success in the management of the pandemic in the nation in general and Nasarawa state in particular.

The representative of the First Lady, Dr. Hajo Sani was accompanied by Special Assistant to the President on African First Ladies Peace Mission and former First Lady of Nasarawa state, Dr. Mairo Almakura, Special Assistant to the President on Health and National Coordinator, Aisha Buhari Foundation/Future Assured, Dr. Kamal Abdurahman Mohammed among others, while the Deputy Governor was supported by the Wife of Governor of Nasarawa State, Mrs. Silifat Abdullahi Sule, wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Tosen Akabe, Esu Karu, Pharm. Luka Panyam Baba and the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Dangana.
