The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN had commiserated with the family and professional colleagues of the former Group Managing Director, GMD of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Maikanti Baru, who died on Friday evening in Abuja.

IPMAN, in a statement made available to PRIME TIME NEWS signed by its Kano Chapter Chairman, Bashir Dan-Mallam on Sunday also condoled the staff, management and serving GMD of NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari over the death of late Mr Baru.

The IPMAN Chairman described the late Baru as a “consummate technocrat” who served the NNPC and the country with dedication, and fear of God, stressing that his absence would be greatly missed by his family, the NNPC and Nigeria as a whole.

Mr Dan-Mallam further noted that NNPC had witnessed great transformation during the tenure of late Mr Baru, adding that “even the issue of containing the problem of end-of-the-year fuel scarcity had started during his time.”

He described the deceased as an exemplary leader who is mindful of serving the nation with decorum, maintaining that he had carried all associations in the oil industry along.

“He had brought so much transformation during his bright tenure. All of the associations in the oil industry had Ben carried along by him. He is also mindful of staff welfare.

” Indeed Nigeria had lost a consummate technocrat whose tenure would be a stepping ground for his successors,” said the statement.

While praying to Allah to rest the soul of Me Baru in peace, Mr Dan-Mallam also prayed to God to grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The chairman also expressed hope that the current management of NNPC, under the leadership of Mr Kyari, had continued from the where late Mr Baru stopped “and even added some innovation that moved the oil industry forward.”

He assured Nigerians that the association would continue supplying petroleum nationwide even in the lockdown period, occasioned by the outbreak of COVID-19.
