Zamfara Assembly Reshuffles It’s Committees’ Leadership, As House Adopts 2020-2021 Legislative Year

In its first ever extra ordinary season since it inauguration in June last year, the zamfara House of Assembly yesterday adopted its 2020-2021 legislative sitting calender.

The adoption of the new sitting calender became imperative in view of strict complience with the provision of section 104 of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

Presenting the motion before the House as a matter of public importance The House Leader Faruk Musa Dosara (PDP, Maradun) remainded his colleagues on the urgent need to adop the new calender of 182 legislative sittings as required by the law.

While adding their voices on the issue Hon Muhammad G. Ahmad (PDP Shinkafi) and Dep House leader, Nasiru Bello Lawal (PDP, Bungudu west) concur with house leader and urged their colleagues to adop the new calendar.

Ruling on the matter, Speaker Nasiru Magarya through voice vote of the House ruled that 2020-2021 legislative calender is here by adopted.

The state chief lawmaker also announced the formation of the House special and standing committees with some minor changes.

Under the new arrangement, Zaharadeen Sada Kaura is now the new chairman of security and home affairs committee while Sani Dahiru Adabka is to chair public petition committee while all other special and standing committees of the House remained unchanged.

According to Speaker Nasiru, the minor reshurflement in the House committees is to ensure productivity and result oriented sixth assembly which he said has high expectations of electorates that voted them to office.

The House also yesterday screened and confirmed fmr Head of service Muhammad Bello Umar mni as premanent commissioner in the state civil service.

While 8 out 10 special Adivisers nominees were also screened and confirmed by the legislature.

Four executive bills that include establishment and management of the state comprehensive Development programme, local government councils joint project bill 2020 as well as a bill for a law to establish bureau for public procurement known as due process office and consolidated revenue law all went through first reading.

Speaker Magarya also use the yesterday’s sitting to brief the House on the level of development of Zamfara state on COVID-19 pandemic.

The speaker who also doubles as state taskforce chair on covid 19 said the state had recorded 76 confirmed cases with 5 deaths has also 71 discharged victims.

While congratulating his colleagues and by extension the entire poeple of the state for having zero active case of the pandemic, as 26/05/2020, he also extend his profound gratitude and appreciation to the state governor for providing all the financial and technical support to his committee that led into this unprecedented success.

He also commend his committee members for a job Welldone and entire poeple of the state for their endurance and constant prayers for the elimination of the dreaded disease.

The Deputy speaker of the House Hon Musa Bawa Musa yankuzo called for adjournment of the extra ordinary season till 15/06/2020 to enable the House to complete its recess which was seconded by Shamsudeen Hassan Basco Talata Mafara.
