The emir of Zazzau Alh Dr Shehu Idris declared tomorrow as 1st of shawwal 1441 AH. The good people of Zazzau emirate will celebrate Eid tomorrow, Saturday 23rd of may.
This was contained in a statement claimed to be signed by the chief Imam of Zaria Jumma’at Mosque, Mal Dalhatu Kassim.
It was gathered that the new moon was sighted in Fatika area of the emirate and also in Anguwan Iya, ancient city of Zaria. The statement by Chief Imam of Zazzau emirate Mal Dallhatu Imam emphasized.
However, one Honourable Bashir Nuhu Masa has took to his Facebook handle that he had a call with the Imam on the development, “I called the Chief of Zazzau Mosque, Malam Dalhatu and asked him about sighting of Shawwal Crescent in Zaria and he confirmed that they’ve contacted the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Dr Shehu Idris that the new noon has been sighted. But when the Sultan of Sokoto was contacted by the emir, he replied that all information about sighting of new month of Shawwal has been closed, thus we shalt complete Ramadan Fast to 30. Also, when I asked the Imam about their stand to as whether they follow Sultan’s decision or otherwise he told me that they’ll stop Ramadan fasting on Saturday.”
In another development, authorities in Niger Republic have said that Saturday would be 1st Shawwal 1441AH.
But, the Sultan of Sokoto and the President of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has on Friday said that Ramadan fasting will continue on Saturday and declared Sunday Eid’Al-Fitr 1441 equivalent to 24th May, 2020.
