Kano chapter of Rotary club have donated food items as palliatives to 5 communities in Kano state as part of the club’s humanitarian assistance to communities especially during the lockdown period.
Speaking to newsmen during the distribution exercise held at Badawa quarters, the President Kano rotary club Rotarian Abdulfatai Ibrahim stated that, Rotarians in Kano have find it fit to assist communities with palliatives especially in this trying moments of COVID-19 lockdown.
According to him communities like Badawa, Sharada, Sabon Gari, Jaba and Sauna are to benefit from the palliative package, with less privileged and the vulnerable given more priority in the distribution.
“We are distributing the palliatives to communities through their ward heads with the supervision of our members as part of a move by the Rotarians in Kano to ease community members hardship as a result of the lockdown,” he said.
Receiving the items on behalf of the community members, the ward head of Badawa Alhaji Isa Idris Isa Jawa revealed that, he had used vulnerability and less privileged status in the selection processes of the beneficiaries, adding that the gesture done by the club is worth emulating by others.
